Skin Diseases and Homeopathy

With the advent of summer comes the onslaught of sun damage and injured skin. Sunburn, pimples, rashes, acne, fungal infections and boils are some examples of the many skin problems that make an appearance now and then. Most of these conditions are in fact not linked to summer at all but have a perennial existence.

Acne is one of the most obstinate and irritating skin problems. While it makes an appearance in adolescence it often persists well into adulthood. People with oily skin are more prone to developing pimples, however they are not the only ones. In women acne often gets aggravated before and during menstruation and may be painful. This is because pimples mainly have a hormonal component attached to them. Blackheads and whiteheads are part of acne. Pimples often leave scars when they regress leading to unsightly marks that take years to disappear, if at all. However, there are many homeopathic medicines for pimples and acne on face and body and these easily resolve the issue of acne and marks.

Skin infections are common and occur more during damp humid weather. They are also prevalent in people living in close quarters because infection spread occurs easily. Practicing poor hygiene as well as overlooking injuries or cuts that may become infected are both conducive factors in causing skin infections. Fungal infections are very common in Indian weather and living conditions. Ringworm is quite commonly seen in summer and humid months. Athlete’s foot is another fungal infection which is frequently acquired. Fungal infection causes itching which may not be life-threatening but is irritating and certainly interferes with the daily routine and quality of life.

Allergies are yet another medical condition that often manifest on skin. An allergy occurs when your body becomes hypersensitive to something that normally causes no sensitivity response in others. Common food products causing allergies are peanuts, kiwis, shellfish, cream, certain spices and condiments, various drugs, among others. Allergy results in a skin rash called urticaria that is accompanied with intense itching and in severe cases may even lead to breathing difficulties. Homeopathic skin allergy treatment includes not only treatment for the skin rash but also eradication of the tendency to develop ill-effects from specific foodstuffs.

While we are on the topic of skin diseases it is important to discuss psoriasis. This is an autoimmune condition in which dry, scaly patches form over the skin. They are itchy and the patches gradually coalesce to cover more area. Typically, the condition is aggravated in winter. There are several types of psoriasis varying in intensity. The disease is supposed to have a genetic component and is not contagious. In some cases, psoriasis is also associated with chronic inflammatory arthritis commonly affecting the joints of fingers and toes. Nail manifestations and deformities are also common. Diagnosis of psoriasis is generally clinical and no specific investigations are required.

Yet another stubborn skin condition is warts. Warts and skin tags are common specially on neck and back. They persist for years altogether and sometimes may even increase in number at a certain point in life. Allopathic treatment consists of surgical removal of the skin tag or wart. The problem with this method is that the chances of recurrence are quite high. Surgical removal or cauterization of warts often drive the disease inwards and internal manifestations of some disease begin to occur. It is better to safely eradicate these skin conditions with holistic treatment rather than going for an expensive surgical approach which may be impermanent. Homeopathic treatment for skin tags and warts is safe, effective, inexpensive and permanent. Before going for surgical treatment, it is always a good option that you consider a homeopath and find out what your chances with homeopathy

In today’s day and age when pollution is rampant and fresh air is a luxury, having healthy hair is a rare occurrence. Hair damage, fall and dandruff are increasingly common and an indispensable feature of urban life. Hair quality is affected not only by dietary habits but also by the genuineness of products applied. Hair fall is reduced if a diet rich in proteins is taken. Adequate quantity of water is also essential to prevent dryness and splitting. Hair fall is also related to genetic predisposition and stress. Similarly, dandruff occurs in dry hair with flaking and scaling of skin. This also causes itching and an unsightly appearance in general.
